The Sugar cane Production Manual is available in English for E680.
The manual is comprehensive and cover all the resources needed to grow sugarcane (e.g. climate, soils, water, labour, transport, equipment and capital) as well as all the technical aspects of production (e.g. varieties; land preparation; weed, disease and insect control; irrigation; fertilizer recommendations; chemical ripening; harvesting and cane quality) with details of choices available. Included with the English manual is the Eswatini Sugar bulletin titled “Introduction to the business of cane growing for the new grower”. This bulletin gives an outline of the resources, operations and general requirements when one wishes to grow sugarcane.
The manual is available from Eswatini Sugar Technical Services Offices at both Simunye and Big Bend and from the Eswatini Cane Growers Association Offices in Mbabane. Technical Services also publishes quarterly newsletters which provide an update to the manuals. These can be viewed on the Eswatini Sugar website or a hard copy can be obtained at Technical Services.
